TOPEKA COULD BE AN HISTORIC STOP FOR ENDERS AND KLR GROUP RACE TEAM

TOPEKA, Kan. (May 16)

As KLR Group driver Erica Enders continues her quest to win her first Pro Stock race, Enders and her GK Motorsports team have redoubled their efforts heading into this weekend's Dollar General NHRA Summer Nationals at Heartland Park Topeka.

After the most recent Full Throttle Drag Racing Series event in Atlanta, Enders gathered with sponsor Gaston Kearby and team owner Victor Cagnazzi to talk about continued strategies to improve.

"We've got the people, we've got the sponsor, we've got the driver. We just need to figure it out."

Enders will be racing this weekend at the site of her first No. 1 qualifier, secured in 2006 at Heartland Park.

"I've been racing at Topeka a long time because I also raced there in the Sportsman ranks," Enders said. "I have a lot of fond memories of racing there but the best has to be the time we qualified No. 1 there in '06."

Enders eventually fell in the second round that year in a race later won by one of her current crew chiefs, Dave Connolly. Still, Enders became the first female to win a Pro Stock pole.

"That was pretty cool," Enders said. "I don't think I realized it when I did it but looking back, it was pretty cool to secure that little piece of history."

Now, though, Enders would like to secure other records – including a Pro Stock victory.
