<< LEE QUALIFIES FOR SECOND STRAIGHT PRO STOCK FIELD BUT SUFFERS

<< FIRST-ROUND DEFEAT
>>
SEATTLE (July 24, 2006) -- The Slammers Ultimate Milk Pro Stock team continues to move forward as driver Tommy Lee qualifies for his second straight event, but loses in the first-round at Pacific Raceways in Seattle this weekend.
Friday was rough on the team, as they found themselves "outside looking in" after the first two rounds of qualifying were complete.
"Normally you have your best chance at getting into the field on Friday night," Lee said. "Not being qualified puts a little pressure on for Saturday, that's for sure. We also didn't know what to expect from Mother Nature on Saturday. The last two races have been very hot, which slows down us Pro Stockers a lot. When I saw cloud cover on Saturday morning I was a
little relieved knowing it would at least be a little cooler."
With help from the cooler temperature on Saturday's early run, the Slammers Ultimate Milk crew rose to the occasion, running a solid 6.728 at 205.66 mph. The run landed Lee in the no. 12 position, with a first-round match up against Tom Martino for Sunday's final eliminations.
Lee's race day came to an early end however, when he was beat off the starting-line running a 6.760 to Martino's nearly identical 6.762.
"The good news is we seem to have the Slammers Ultimate Milk Chevy Cobalt running decent in the heat again," crew chief Roy Simmons said. "During first round, we were the fifth best pass of the session, and the 205 mph shows the horsepower these Cagnazzi Engines are making. Everything is coming together, and we sorted some things out here in Seattle. Now we will just
load up and head on down to Sonoma and see what happens next."
